Ignacio Ortega

Hi, I’m Ignacio! I’m a New Mexico native, originally from the Taos area, where I grew up in the small community of Arroyo Hondo. I’ve been in the beauty industry for 20 years, with the majority of my career spent with Aveda. What started as a career in hair has grown into something I truly love, including the creativity, the relationships, and the opportunity to keep growing.

Behind the chair, I enjoy both cutting and color and working with all types of hair. I love creating polished, personalized looks while making sure my guests still feel like themselves. I also believe there’s always something new to learn in this industry, and I enjoy continuing my own education while sharing the knowledge and experience I’ve gained along the way.

Aveda has been an important part of my career and has shaped so much of how I’ve grown as a stylist. I’ve always valued its commitment to education, creativity, and caring for the world we live in, values that continue to be meaningful to me today.

I’m proud to now be the owner of Runway Hair Studio and to work alongside a talented team of stylists. My goal is for Runway to be a place where every guest feels welcomed, comfortable, and cared for, and where great hair comes with a genuinely great experience.

Outside the salon, I love cooking and especially baking. It’s one of my favorite ways to unwind, be creative, and share something with the people I love. I also enjoy spending time at home, tending to my ever-growing collection of houseplants.
